Building apps
How do I build an app on this platform?
Describe what you want in plain language in the Studio chat — for example "build a prior-auth chart summarizer" — and the platform generates a full-stack app you can preview live, then refine with follow-up prompts. If you'd rather not start from scratch, the marketplace has prebuilt healthcare agents (HCC coding, ICD coding, claims scrubbing, denial triage, and more) you can open in Studio and customize.
How long does it take to generate an app?
Simple changes usually land in under a minute. Generating a new app or a large feature can take several minutes — the agent writes code, installs dependencies, builds the app, and verifies it before showing you the preview. Keep the tab open while the build streams; you'll see live progress in the chat.
How many apps can I work on at once?
You can have up to 5 active build sessions at the same time. If you hit the cap, close or finish an existing session before starting a new one.
Troubleshooting
My build stopped after my internet dropped — what do I do?
If your connection drops while an app is generating, the stream is interrupted: the stop symbol on the chat button disappears and you'll see the regular send icon again, even though the build didn't finish. Don't start over — just type "Resume" and send it like a normal prompt. The agent picks up where it left off and completes the build.
My previewed app is showing an error. How do I fix it?
Tell the agent about it in the chat. Paste the error message (or describe what you see on screen, and where) and ask it to fix the issue — it will diagnose and correct the generated code, then refresh the preview. The more specific the prompt, the faster the fix.
I'm seeing a "too many requests" error.
Chat messages are rate-limited to 30 requests per minute per user to keep the platform responsive for everyone. Wait a minute and try again — your session and any in-progress work are unaffected.
Costs & billing
How much does it cost to build an app?
Usage is token-based, so the cost differs from app to app: a larger app, or one you iterate on more, consumes more tokens and therefore costs more. The same applies to the cognitive services and API endpoints — each call's cost depends on the number of tokens it consumes. You can track exactly what you've spent — monthly allowance used, credits balance, and lifetime spend — under Settings → Billing.
What do the Free, Pro, and Enterprise plans include?
Free gives you 10 credits when you sign up — a one-time grant to try the platform (no card, no monthly refill). You can build and test in the Studio with it; top up any time once it's used. Pro is $450/mo and includes 250 credits/mo of usage, plus deploy & publish, the full datasets catalog, and the skills library. Enterprise is sales-led with custom pricing and allowances, team usage, and HIPAA-compliant production deployment — contact sales to get started.
What happens if I use up my monthly allowance?
You can buy top-up credit packs ($25–$250) from the Billing tab. Credits never expire and are drawn after your monthly allowance is exhausted, so nothing goes to waste. Your allowance itself resets at the start of each billing period.
Data & compliance
Can I upload real patient data?
No. On the Free and Pro tiers you must use synthetic data only — do not submit real patient records or PHI when building, trying out APIs, or running generated apps. Real data is supported only on Enterprise, after your app has been deployed through the enterprise security review process.
How do I get a HIPAA-compliant deployment so I can use real data?
That's an Enterprise capability. Once you've built your app, reach out to the enterprise team: your app goes through an enterprise security review gate, where it's submitted to the Penguin Ai team for review. The team then deploys it for you in a HIPAA-ready, compliant manner — and only then can the app work with real (non-synthetic) data.
What's coming next
Can I build my own backend endpoints?
Not yet — today generated apps consume the platform's prebuilt healthcare endpoints (OCR, coding, prior auth, and more). A backend builder that lets you create your own custom endpoints is coming in the next set of releases.
Will I be able to build RPA / desktop automations?
Yes — the ability to build your own RPA capabilities (browser and desktop automation that can work portals and legacy systems alongside your apps) is coming in the next set of releases.
